PSYCHOSOCIAL SUPPORT: CHILDRENS HANGOUT IN IDP CAMPS IN BENUE STATE

CLHEI saw the need to get play toys for the displaced children as part of her mental health intervention. Our team continue to have hang-out session with children living in IDP Camps to engage and inspire fun through storytelling, riddles and jokes. During these events, with support from Sapphire aid and United Helping Heart Corporation, Children receive fun items with great excitement, with over 300 children benefitting clothe items and toys so far.

Sadly, many children face traumatic experiences and unimaginable distress emanating from the violence during conflicts from a young age. While some are forced to live in foster homes, abandoned by their parents, maltreated by their relatives, starved, and have to endure abuse—both physical and mental.

CLHEI over the years have been working to help children who are exposed to and have experienced conflicts. This is has served as an all-important strategy to support children toward the path where they can avoid suffering from psychological problems. These children are in a fragile situation and need to be given attention. Without the psychosocial support they need, they could experience long-term effects. These afflictions can cause anxiety disorder, depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD); and if not treated, children can carry these effects until they’re old.
