FIIDI COMMUNITY (TIV & JUKUN TRIBES) IN MAKURDI LGA, OLOGBA & EGBA COMMUNITIES OF AGATU LGA, BENUE STATE, NIGERIA SIGNS RESPECTIVE PEACE PACT.

Representatives of the various project implementation communities in Makurdi and Agatu LGAs of Benue State respectively have signed a peace accord to end violence over access to Natural Resource (Fish Pond). The peace agreement was signed on 5th September 2024 and was the result of dialogue and mediation initiatives facilitated by Kende-Avese Foundation (Tiv & Jukun in Fiidi Community), Community Links and Human Empowerment Initiative (Policy Engagements) and Angel Support Foundation (Ologba & Egba Communities) with technical support from the Benue State Peace and Reconciliation Commission and financial support from International Alert and the Irish Aid.

Leaders of the various community groups agreed on the actions required to prevent further escalation of conflicts to violence, including: Cessation of Hostilities, Dialogue & Mediation, Security, Cultural & Social Interaction, Reparation & Compensation, Education & Awareness and Monitoring & Enforcement.
